HEATER CORE ON A EARLY 90'S FORD F150

The easiest eay to change the heater core on an early 90's f150 is to first disconnect the hoses from the fire wall then go into the cab and remove the glove box by pusing in the sides and sliding foward. You will see a black box on the fire wall remove the bolts and heater core will be inside that box slide out and insert new one put back together and you are good to go

WHEN CALLING A PARTS STORE

I get this everyday when calling the parts store please have all the vehicle information ready . We even get the garages calling without the correct info. Here is a list of some info to have ready for a better parts store experience.

1. Year, make and model
2. engine size
3. automatic or manual transmission
The first three can get you a long way on most apllications
4. wheel size such as 13" 14" 15" etc
5. wheel base mainly for truck exhaust ( measure center wheel to center wheel front to back)
6. model code example ex,dx,lx,se,gt etc.
7. build date located usally on drivers door ( parts may be for vehicles a year prior or a year newer
8 gross vehicle weight
9.braking system mainly with or with out abs(antilock brakes)
These nine items will make yours and our lives easier. But beware this is just common info to have ready depending on make and model the may be some additional questions to be asked

FIX THE REAL PROBLEM

If your check engine light comes on and pops the code po420 which is the catalytic converter code. Here is a list of some other problems that couldve caused your converter to fail.
o2 sensors, coolant temp sensors, thermostat, fuel injectors, plug/wires, throttle postion sensor, evap system, egr postionsensor/valve, idle speed motor, exhaust manifold, idle air control, purge valves just check these parts out to save yourself money and headaches in the long run. But most of all on an obd2 system please use a direct fit converter it may be more expensive then an universal but it will work alot better than the cheaper universal . A universal converter if install in the wrong postion will cause the check engine to continue to throw codes

97 and newer ford escorts

alot of parts stores ask if you have 9 or 10 inch rotors on your 97 or newer ford escort. If they ask you this question your in the wrong parts store. Any escort of these years only have 10 inch brakes. If you end uo with AIMCO parts number 5475 for the rotors and Aimco pad number 466 you got the wrong parts. You should have is rotor number 5474 and pad number 473
